About Tim

Tim Michaels is a Piano Technician servicing the Los Angeles area. At the age of 14 he became frustrated with his out of tune piano and attempted to tune it. That began a lifelong interest in piano technology acquired through apprenticeships and as member of the Piano Technicians Guild. He received a bachelor’s degree from UCLA in music. He went on to work in various industries not related to music, but none of them satisfied him as much as piano work. In addition to a busy schedule servicing pianos in homes, he tunes for recording studios, concert venues and churches. He is the preferred piano technician at Westlake Studios, Sunset Sound Recording Studios, Cherokee Studios and Glenwood Place Studios. He also tunes at East West Studios, Nightbird Studios, 14th Street Studios, The Village, Lion Share Studios and many other up and coming studios. Tim has served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild. He keeps thousands of parts and tools on hand to tackle any emergency piano repair.
