Tim Michaels is a Los Angeles piano technician trusted by the city’s top recording studios, universities, and concert venues — and by hundreds of families across the San Fernando Valley and greater LA.
At 14, frustrated with the out-of-tune piano at home, Tim picked up a tuning lever and tried to fix it himself. That moment sparked a lifelong fascination with piano technology, developed through apprenticeships and membership in the Piano Technicians Guild, where he later served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Los Angeles chapter. After earning a bachelor’s degree in music from UCLA and working in other industries, Tim returned to the work that satisfied him most: making pianos sound their best.
Today he splits his time between home service calls and tuning for recording studios, concert venues, churches, and schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area. He keeps thousands of parts and tools on hand to tackle any emergency piano repair.
